FILM REVIEW: Fuck
DIRECTED BY :DANNY MORGAN.
Watching the short film Fck* by Danny Morgan really got me thinking. At first, I thought it was just going to be another funny or wild story about sex or dating, but it turned out to be something deeper. The film shows how some people act like they don’t care when really, they’re hiding what they feel inside. It’s about how we sometimes pretend to be okay just to impress someone or not look weak but deep down, we’re going through a lot.
What stood out to me most was how real it felt. The guy in the film looked confident at first, like he was just looking for a quick hookup. But as the story went on, you could tell he was nervous, confused, and maybe even lonely. It reminded me how people often joke around or act tough, just to cover up how they really feel. That’s the main theme of the film for me hiding your true emotions out of fear of being judged or rejected.
The characters felt realistic too. I could relate to the awkwardness between them — the way they spoke, stayed silent, or avoided eye contact. The girl in the film wasn’t just there to be part of a love scene. She seemed to sense what was going on and pushed the guy to be real with her. I liked that it wasn’t forced or fake.
The way the film was shot made everything more intense. There weren’t any big effects or dramatic scenes. Most of it was in a small space with close-up shots, showing their faces and reactions clearly. That made me focus on their feelings more than anything else. The silence, the pauses, and even the lighting all helped to show how uncomfortable and honest that moment was.
The music and sound were soft and simple too, which matched the mood. Sometimes there was just silence, and that silence made the scene feel more real like I was there in the room with them.
In the end, I think Fck* is about more than just hooking up. It’s about being honest with yourself and with other people. It shows that sometimes we hide how we really feel just to protect ourselves, but when we finally let our guard down, that’s when real connection happens. I liked that message 2 it felt real and easy to relate to.
Protagonist:
The main guy in the story is the protagonist. He acts like he knows what he wants, but as the film goes on, we can tell he’s not as confident as he pretends to be. He’s the one we follow, and the whole story is built around what he’s feeling and going through.
A specific goal or objective:
At first, it looks like his goal is to just have a casual hookup. But as things go on, we realise that deep down, he just wants to feel something real. I think he’s trying to prove something to himself — like he’s enough or he’s doing what’s expected of him as a man.
Facing an antagonist with set principles:
There’s no “bad guy” in this film. The antagonist is more like the situation — or his own mind. He’s stuck between pretending to be okay with casual sex and actually wanting something more meaningful. The girl he’s with also stands her ground and challenges him in a way. She makes him question his actions. So, the conflict is more about clashing values: fake confidence vs emotional truth.
Willing to struggle:
You can really see him struggling. Not physically, but emotionally. There are awkward silences, moments where he doesn’t know what to say, and you can tell he’s uncomfortable. But he still tries to keep going, even though it’s clearly hard for him.
Win or lose moment:
At one point, it feels like everything is building up to a decision. He could either keep pretending and go through with it, or he could be real about how he feels. This is his turning point — if he makes the wrong choice, he could lose himself or the chance to connect with someone in a real way.
Resolving the differences:
By the end, he kind of faces his truth. I liked that the film didn’t just wrap everything up in a perfect way, but it showed growth. He may not have won in a normal way, but he was honest with himself, and that’s what really matters. That’s how the conflict got resolved by being true, not fake.
