FILM TITLE: STILL WYLDE
PRODUCED BY: BAD MANNERS
DIRECTED BY:INGRID HAAS.
As a group, we watched Still Wylde and we all agreed it was short but powerful. It was about a couple, Gertie and Patrick, dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. The story mixed funny moments with serious ones, which made it feel real.
From the beginning, the film pulled us in because the dialogue was quick, the situation felt real, and there was a lot of tension under the surface. If we were to summarize it without spoiling too much, we’d say it’s about a couple who are trying to figure out their relationship and their future while going through a very personal and emotional moment.
We think the message of the film is about how hard it is to make big decisions in a relationship, especially when you’re not sure of your future together. There were also a few surprises in the way Gertie reacted and how emotional things got by the end.
We all agreed that the characters felt very real. Gertie was the standout u her performance was so natural, and you could really feel her emotional confusion. She was sarcastic and strong, but also vulnerable. Patrick, on the other hand, was calm and more emotionally open, but still unsure of how to support her.
Visually, the film was simple but very effective. It mostly focused on the characters, using close-up shots to capture their expressions and reactions. That made it easier for us as viewers to feel the emotions between them. The lighting was soft and realistic, which matched the tone of the film not too dramatic, but still intimate.
There wasn’t much music, but that was okay. The quietness actually made the film feel more real. We heard their voices clearly, and the silence in some scenes made the tension stronger.
We all liked the film. It felt real and emotional. One of the best things about it was how simple but powerful it was. The biggest strength was how the actors showed their emotions.
In the end, we think the film’s message is that being honest in a relationship is hard, but important and sometimes love is not enough unless both people are ready to talk and listen.
Using the story structure from class, here’s how we broke it down:
Protagonist
The main character is likely a pregnant woman or a couple dealing with pregnancy.
Objective/Goal
The protagonist aims to navigate the challenges of pregnancy and seek support and understanding.
In the Face of an Antagonist with a Context of Set Principles:
There is no bad guy in the film. But the problem is the emotional situation. Gertie and Patrick don’t fully agree on what they want. Patrick wants to be there and fix things, but Gertie doesn’t know what she wants yet. Their different thoughts and emotions make things hard between them.
Willingness to Struggle
The protagonist shows resilience and determination to overcome the ups and downs of pregnancy.
Situation of Win or Lose
There is a point in the film where it feels like they might break up. Gertie almost gives up, and Patrick looks hurt. It feels like they could lose their relationship for good if they don’t start talking honestly. That’s the big turning point in the story.
Resolution
The short film may conclude by portraying a resolution where the protagonist gains understanding, acceptance, or support, leading to a positive outcome.
