The CENTRIFUGE BRAIN PROJECT is a German short film is a  mockumentary fantasy film directed and written by Till Nowak. It presents a fictional scientific investigation led by Dr. Nick Laslowicz, who explores how centrifugal force from amusement park rides can expand human cognitive abilities and mental endurance.

At the beginning of the film, we are introduced to Dr. Laslowicz, the protagonist. He is a calm and serious scientist who believes that traditional science is too limited. His goal is to explore new ways to increase human intelligence and brain activity. He believes that extreme centrifugal force (spinning at high speeds) can unlock hidden parts of the brain. To test this idea, he and his team at the fictional "Institute for Centrifugal Research" build experimental rides. These rides are massive, dangerous-looking machines that seem impossible, yet are shown with great detail and realism.

In the middle of the film, the story focuses on different kinds of rides they have built over the years. From the "6-Seat Prototype" to the “Dandelion” and the “High Altitude Conveyance,” each ride is bigger and more bizarre than the last. Through Dr. Laslowicz’s narration, we learn that some of the rides caused accidents, including vomiting, dizziness, and even disappearance of test subjects. Yet, he continues his work, saying that the risks are part of scientific progress. This shows that the protagonist is willing to suffer losses and take risks to chase his dream. The antagonist in this film is not a person but the limits of science and public belief. His ideas go against what is normally accepted, and he constantly struggles to prove his work is valuable.

By the end of the film, Dr. Laslowicz reflects on the challenges he has faced. He believes that real progress comes from breaking rules and going beyond what people think is possible. The film ends without a clear solution or success, but it leaves the viewer wondering about the fine line between science and madness. The difference in principles between logical science and wild imagination she remains unresolved. But that is the point. The film makes us question whether true innovation needs rules, or if rules only limit our potential.

      STORY THEMES
Watching this film made me feel curious, surprised and confused in a good way. The story felt engaging from the very  beginning, mainly because of how everything looked and sounded. The film used realistic camera works, interviews and voice-overs to create a documentary. They looked so real that it was had to believe that they were fake. The protagonist is Dr. Brenswick, the lead scientist and visionary behind the centrifuge experiments. His goal is to push the boundaries of human experience by using amusement park rides as experimental devices to enhance brain function and alter perception. He embodies the principle of relentless scientific exploration and human curiosity, driven by the belief that natural laws like gravity are obstacles to be overcome.

The central message of this film was humanity desire to escape
reality and control nature through technology and science. The cinematography was done in a style that mimicked real-life documentaries. The camera stayed still during interviews, used handheld shots when showing the rides, and included zoom-in and slow pans to add drama. The lighting was natural and soft, helping to keep the illusion that this was a real story. The colors were muted, using mostly gray, white, and dull greens, which added to the seriousness of the tone.

The soundtrack and music were subtle and did not overpower the visuals. Most of the sound came from the spinning rides and background hums. This helped keep the focus on the narration and visuals. The music quietly built tension without becoming dramatic or emotional, which matched the film’s documentary style.
